The Solar Impulse 2 has just recently completed it’s year long 25,000 mile journey to fly around the world solely on solar power. This marks the first time that a plane has been successfully flown without using any fuel, which is consistently the airline industry’s biggest expense. While the plane itself cannot support more than one pilot, the technology used to power it will begin to make waves in the airline industry, creating a more eco-friendly model for air travel and waning off the industries dependence on fuel.
